Before we start I want to note that suicide is a net negative in most scenarios. The act of one killing themselves has been thoroughly analyzed and committed since the dawn of humanity. Although suicide may not seem good in the eyes of peers or other people its often a different story for the ones actually committing the act of self annihilation. A person who attempts or successes in ending there life are normally facing various mental or physical dilemmas but its often mental. Depression is the most notable one we have all faced it to an extent but others face severe depression also anxiety and bipolar can add to the list of suicide causes. Also trauma and isolation make up a large percentage anyways all that matters is a lot of things can make the human mind feel helpless and need a way out which creates a sense of tunnel vision for the person that is suicidal. This is where the mind cannot think logically or how it will impact the ones around them or the permeability of death itself this often makes said person act on the impulse immediately leaving a very little time window for others to intervene or stop them. You may ask if suicide is such a big problem in today's society is there anyway to help these people and yes there are things such as therapy and hotlines they exist for a reason. My country which is Australia has various resources and so does the United States and most other western nations you are not alone is what many people say when talking to someone about suicide but that is far from true. If you are suicidal it is very rare that you are willing to tell anyone because that will interfere on ending your life also there is a difference between being suicidal and wanting to get help compared to being suicidal and wanting death to take control as soon as possible. I am not one to say I fully understand suicide and mental health but I think throwing someone a helpline and saying there not alone is a pretty flawed method it takes over an hour normally to reach a lifeline worker or a crisis supporter in general because these support agencies are vastly underfunded. Its your choice if you want to live or die you own your anatomy things probably wont get better if you think they wont and I get why people just want a end to it. The logistics of killing yourself are often overshadowed by your mind wanting death there is a very high chance you could fail and fuck yourself up even harder then you are now or just end up a vegetable which is a win for some I guess. Hanging is the most used method of suicide in the world since us humans have had necks we have found a anchor and ligature to suspend ourselves until you inevitably black out and die of asphyxiation its not simple but its not hard. There are various other methods to ending your life but it will be too long of a read if I list them all here. At the end of the day my philosophy on self harm and suicide is you do own your body and anatomy at the end of the day so choose what you want to do with it personally I think its quite stupid if you kill yourself but the reason you do it is because of minor inconveniences but if your suffering and know you will not be happy I guess you could make an argument that death is the best option.
