Why LiveLeak was one of the most influential but evil websites on the web

So if your reading this I would assume your quite knowledgeable and you have a solid grasp on the web because this website is pretty obscure. If you were on the web from 2006 to 2015 you would have heard at school, work, or even the local park or forum about this website called liveleak.com you might of been trolled and told its a website where you can meet new people or a website where you can get free gamepass or ram like i did. Regardless of the way you got informed of the websites existence when you clicked it you were brought straight to some of the most vile content a humans frontal lobe can comprehend now did this traumatize a whole generation of teenagers and people alike yes but even if a website like that existed some people were wondering how could this even be available to witness if its so damn evil good question well the website was fought over until it eventually shut down in 2021 and turned into itemfix a sfw non gore centered website. Just because LiveLeak was shut down does not mean there are not websites still like it or worse because there defiantly are which im not going to link here but you can probably find them by typing gore site on a search engine like duckduckgo which has minimal safety filters to begin with. Now if you have heard about and been around the shock site "rabbit hole" you have defiantly heard about a site called rotten.com its even older then LiveLeak it was made in 1996 and were all images and body horror then videos like on LiveLeak but i found it to be more disturbing i dont know if it was the keywords on the website like "the soft underbelly of the web" or the minimal elegant 1.0 design of the website but i just felt more shame browsing it if thats the right word to use. This is my overall opinion on the shock site part of the internet its not nice and shiny but its also somewhat needed even if all those vile things are on the internet it servers as somewhat of a reminder that life is gruesome and extremely unfair and that certain parts of the world are worse then others. reference: farrel mcguires video covering horros on LiveLeak and brief history of shock sites
